About Catherine E Shaw, LMT
Massage therapy has become a vital part of health care practices worldwide. It is a holistic therapy that has shown positive effects on physical and mental health in addition to enhancing medical treatments. Having a massage does more than just relax the body and mind. There are measurable physiological and psychological changes that occur; especially when massage is used as a preventative and continuous therapy. The effects of massage on the body’s systems can be profound, directly impacting our immune system, digestion, respiration, circulation, nervous system, muscle health and more. Modern living can place a variety of stresses on our bodies that can result in physical and mental discomfort. I specialize in achieving a natural, healthy relief from pain and discomfort using a variety of traditional massage techniques.
What differentiates us
Because every client is different every treatment regimen is unique. I use neuromuscular, deep tissue and swedish massage techniques to create a customized treatment and achieve optimum results.
How we were trained
I was trained here in Houston at The Phoenix School of Massage and have taken countless continuing education classes, including: Neuro-muscular therapy, massage for cyclists, chair massage, CPR, foot reflexology, and advanced palpation. I am licensed by the State of Texas department of health.
Why we love what we do
I am energized and motivated by the fact that I am able to help guide my clients to a pain free relaxing state of well being. Chronic pain can can not only be physically draining, but also mentally exhausting. Regular therapy can not only manage and reduce pain, but it can very often eliminate it. I focus on that end result.
