About The Mukwonago String Academy

More than fifty years ago, Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki realized the implications of the fact that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease. He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the mother-tongue approach. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, constant repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the Suzuki approach.

How we were trained

Sarah has been playing the violin for about thirteen years now. She has studied privately with the following teachers: Mr. Tom Pederson, Miss Kelly Kusik, Mr. Jerry Loughney, Miss Elizabeth Pabón, Dr. Bernard Zinck, and Mr. Lewis Rosove. Sarah has been in groups and orchestras studying with the following: Mrs. Ingrid Stroh, Miss Elizabeth Pabón, Mr. Daniel Briar, Dr. Brown, Dr. Pinner, and Ms. Margery Deutsch.

Sarah has been involved in the String Preparatory Program at MBBC. Her group was busy traveling in south eastern Wisconsin doing ministry performances in churches and so forth. They were even able to perform for Dr. Pinner in Illinois. In May of 2008 Sarah's group flew out to Washington D.C. and went “on tour” in several states out east including Virginia and Maryland. Since they were there over Memorial Day, their main repertoire consisted of a fun variety of patriotic music.

Sarah plays a 2005 William Harris Lee violin, a purchase made possible by the Darwin Greenwald family.

Sarah has successfully completed all String Pedagogy I, String Pedagogy II, String Pedagogy III, and Advanced String Pedagogy through Maranatha Baptist Bible College. She also plans to become Suzuki Certified from books 1-10 over the course of the next few years.

Sarah is currently attending the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and is a Violin Performance major and a Viola Performance major. She plans to continue on and earn a master's degree in String Pedagogy.

Sarah has been teaching for about seven years, and she loves working with beginning students of all ages and seeing them develop the valuable ability of playing the violin successfully.
